WHAT 2011 PARTICIPANTS SAID

Darryl Johnson, Green Bay, WI: Attending the Cactus Classic Pitching Clinic in 2011 was a valuable experience for me and will become a yearly activity in the future. With Gil Heredia, Greg Cadaret and Bob Didier analyzing our pitching, hitting, and fielding, I came away with many useful suggestions. The benefit of seeing myself on video has helped correct some flaws and identify things I need to work on. If a player is serious about improving, this clinic offers lots of 1-on-1 time with ex-pros who know how to coach and encourage.

Story telling was also a big part of the experience. For me, working on my pitching is essential in order to be effective. I'm 66, and am competing in leagues where I'm facing hitters who are sometimes half my age. The tournament that followed the clinic was fun, competitive, and a great way to put suggestions given to me into action. Fees for both the clinic and tournament were very reasonable. That included locker rooms, which lead to a great way to get to know my teammates and promote camaraderie.

Dave McLaughlin, Port Charlotte, FL: Being around the game of baseball for some 45 years and having the chance to learn more about catching from a former professional was a great opportunity. My time with Bob Didier enhanced my understanding of the art of catching and helped me work with my 15-year-old son, a high school catcher. I was able to develop my stance, throwing, blocking, pitch selection and total outlook on the game as well as hitting. During the camp I was video-taped and critiqued not only by Bob, but Gil Heredia and Greg Cadaret, former professional pitchers who know what to look for in a catcher.

On a personal note, I am not a professional and don’t have any illusions about my baseball future, but Bob Didier did not care. He made me feel like the only person in the world and focused on me and how he could help me improve. I recommend this experience to anyone who wants to learn more about the game they love. The Locker Room environment was a plus from a learning standpoint as well as telling stories and building relationships. I am looking forward to a repeat this February … Learn from a Pro and be treated like one too.

General Information

PURPOSE: The H2Baseball pitching and catching clinic is designed to give pitchers, catchers and youth baseball coaches the benefit of experienced professional instructors in a Spring Training Environment.

PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTION: Your coaches will be former Major League players such as Keith Comstock (Mariners, Padres, Giants) currently a pitching coach in the Texas Rangers system; Gil Heredia (A’s, Expos, Giants) currently a pitching coach in the Arizona Diamondbacks system; Greg Cadaret (a veteran of 11 major-league seasons with 8 teams), Eric Rasmussen, currently the Minnesota Twins minor league roving pitching instructor, and Bob Didier (Braves, Orioles) a former MLB player, coach, advance scout and minor league manager.
